Top Twenty High Schools at Doublehanded Nationals

High School Sailing (Interscholastic Sailing Association – ISSA) kicks off the spring championship season with the Doublehanded Nationals on May 11-12 at Seattle, WA. Twenty schools across the USA will compete for the Mallory Trophy, dedicated in 1930 to determine the best of fleet racing among the 7 Districts that comprise the US organization.

The racing will be held at Sail Sand Point on Lake Washington. The following schools have won their District qualifiers to represent their respective Districts at the National Championship:

• Northwest (2): Olympia HS (Olympia, WA), Sehome HS (Bellingham, WA)
• Pacific Coast (4): Point Loma HS (San Diego, CA); Newport Harbor HS (Newport Beach, CA); Corona del Mar HS (Corona del Mar, CA); Palos Verdes HS (Palos Verdes, CA)
• New England (3): The Hotchkiss School (Lakeville, CT); St George’s School (Middletown, RI); Tabor Academy (Marion, MA)
• Mid Atlantic (4): ChristChurch School (Christchurch, VA), Ranney School (Tinton Falls, NJ)
• South Atlantic (3): Antilles School (St. Thomas, VI), HB Plant HS (Tampa, FL), Immaculata La Salle HS (Miami, FL)
• Midwest (4): Minnetonka HS (Minnetonka, MN), Orono HS (Long Lake, MN), Walter Payton College Prep HS (Chicago, IL), New Trier HS (Winnetka, IL)
• Southeast (1): Clear Falls HS (League City, TX)

The Baker Championship, emblematic of the top Team Race school, will be held May 24-26, hosted by Sail Maine and NESSA in Portland, Maine. Here are the Districts that have completed their qualifiers.

• Pacific Coast: Pt Loma HS (San Diego, CA); Newport Harbor HS (Newport Beach, CA)
• Mid-Atlantic: Christchurch School (Christchurch, VA); Mamaroneck HS (Mamaroneck, NY)
• Midwest: Grosse Pointe South HS (Grosse Pointe, MI); St. Ignatius College Prep (Chicago, IL)
• Southeast: Clear Falls High School (League City, TX)

The Interscholastic Sailing Association is organized to encourage and promote the sport of sailing and sailboat racing among high schools. Organized into 7 Districts, over 500 schools compete annually in events across the country.
