Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal (May 20, 2019) – Light winds prevailed as the Laser European Championship began today with the qualifying stage for the Standard rig men and the Radial rig women. German Philipp Buhl and Spaniard Joaquin Blanco are tied after two races while Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif (MAS) won both her races to lead the women’s standings. Top North Americans are Chris Barnard (USA) in 8th and Sarah Douglas (CAN) in 14th.

Racing will be held in three divisions – Laser Standard Senior (162 entries), Laser Radial Women’s Senior (120 entries), and Laser Radial Men’s Senior (41 entries) – on May 20 to 25.
