Terry Hutchinson, Skipper and President of Operations for New York Yacht Club American Magic, will be a keynote speaker on November 19 for METSTRADE 2024, the world’s largest trade exhibition for equipment, materials and systems for the global leisure marine industry.
Twice named US Sailing’s Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, Hutchinson participated so far in five America’s Cup campaigns and has won 17 world championships in the Farr 40, IMS, J/24, TP52 classes in addition to the Maxi 72, and Maxi Class. His presentation will include tales of either his victory or defeat in the 2024 America’s Cup.
“This latest edition of the America’s Cup is once again pushing boundaries and it will expose high performance foiling to millions globally,” said Niels Klarenbeek, director of METSTRADE. “The wider recreational marine equipment industry has much to learn from the many areas of technological and human development required for any successful America’s Cup campaign. We are excited to welcome American Magic as a METSTRADE partner in 2024.”
Hutchinson adds how all the things that go into a successful America’s Cup team apply to a lot of different areas of our sport. “Taking what we learn and transferring it over is a massive win for the marine industry, as is the work we are doing on careers and educational development,” he reports. “American Magic welcomes this opportunity to engage with the marine equipment sector through METSTRADE.”
METSTRADE 2024 will run from November 19-21 at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam. https://www.metstrade.com/
