A severely decomposed finless porpoise was found stranded at Sai Wan Village in Sai Kung.
Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong responded to a stranded finless porpoise case today, with that being the 19th case of this year.
The carcass – severely decomposed, has been identified to be an adult finless porpoise of 167 cm long.
The cause of death is yet to be determined. The foundation has transported the carcass to Ocean Park for a further necropsy.
The Foundation appeals to the public to dial the government hotline 1823 if encounter any stranding cetacean; and to provide the time, location, and photo (if any) to allow the Stranding Response Team to take immediate actions.
