Ceningan Divers on Nusa Ceningan, Bali, Indonesia, wins Green Fins Award 2025 for Outstanding Commitment to Sustainable Marine Tourism
The Reef-World Foundation has announced Indonesia’s Ceningan Divers as winner of the Green Fins Award for 2025, recognising the operator’s ‘outstanding leadership in sustainability, environmental responsibility and community engagement.’
The winner of the award was determined through a friendly competition between the five top-rated Green Fins Members, each holding of which has been granted the status of Best Environmental Performer in the latest Green Fins assessment.
While votes from divers, snorkellers and other supporters played a part in deciding the outcome, the overall winner was determined by a Green Fins scoring system across multiple categories, including ‘Sustainable Business’, ‘Reach’ and ‘People’.

‘It’s been inspiring to witness the tangible impact of Ceningan Divers’ work,’ said said Dev Albao, Programmes Manager at The Reef-World Foundation. ‘Sustainability isn’t a marketing campaign for them; it’s woven into their operations, influencing the local community as well as the global diving tourism sector.’
Ceningan Divers is a long-standing Green Fins Member and PADI Eco Centre based in Nusa Ceningan – one of three islands off the coast of Bali that, together with Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida, are collectively referred to as the ‘Nusa Islands’.
Some of the environmental commitments that have earned the operator this year’s award include a no single-use plastic policy across the operation; regular beach and reef cleanups and other marine conservation events; community outreach and education; and training for staff and guests which includes promotion of the Green Fins Diver e-Course.

‘We are incredibly honoured to receive the Green Fins Award 2025,’ said said Matt Hutchinson, Co-Owner of Ceningan Divers. ‘This recognition means a lot to the whole team — it deepens our commitment to inspiring meaningful change, sharing knowledge with our community, protecting our ocean, and continuing the search for sustainable solutions that can shape a better future for our marine ecosystems.’
‘Being part of the Green Fins and The Reef-World Foundation family has not only helped us grow not just as a business but also as ocean advocates,’ Hutchinson continued. ‘A heartfelt thank you to The Reef-World Foundation and Green Fins for their ongoing support and commitment to a healthier, more sustainable marine environment.’
